For the second time in a week, Soboba has had people killed in gunbattles with the Riverside Sheriffs Department. The Soboba members shot at police first, with assault type weapons.
Casino Reservations like Pechanga, which had a shooting a few years back at the home of the disenrollment committee chair, and have had a meth addicted member kill two people, and San Manuel, which has had members linked to Mexican Mafia and now Soboba with multiple killings in just a week's time, one the brother of another member who was killed 4 years ago at Soboba.
Maybe it's time for California to head back to the safe confines of Las Vegas.

Sheriff's deputies shot two people to death Monday night in the second fatal shooting on the Soboba Indian Reservation in a week, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a 6:20 p.m. report of a shooting at a security kiosk at the reservation's entrance less than a quarter mile south of the casino, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez.
BULLETS can travel for MILES and kill indiscriminately. Beware of violent reservations. ABC7 Story says shots exchanged for an hour. Security guard shot.
These Casino Indians with their new found wealth & power are very dangerous. With the "We're above the law" attitude, they do as they please. Then want to run to the Rez & cry soverignty. The traditions of "the Indian Way" are now being switched out in exchange for "Thug's Life". CPP, whats the next bonehead move from you fools?
ReplyDeletePechanga is not safe to anyone including tribal members, watch your backs, your brother may just get ya, all for the $$$$$$$$$$$.
I know some Soboba people, and they are mean and cruel. They are Basquez and Masiel. Even they don't want to be part the Soboba tribe.
ReplyDeleteThey are equally as mean & evil. Who knows what they have gotten away with behind the Pechanga "curtain of corruption". I'm glad the Sheriffs out there are standing up to the out of control tribal members. It never happened in Temecula. They have allowed criminals to hide on the Pechanga rez in the past. Maybe things are a changing?
ReplyDeleteI remember about four years ago, when I was still a tribal member, that the Soboba trial council visited a Pechanga general membership meeting to discuss concerns involving both tribes.
ReplyDeleteA Pechanga tribal member asked the Soboba council if there had been any dead bodies found lately on the Soboba reservation.
While this Pechanga tribal member was rude for asking this, there is some truth to this as I have heard for years about people dying on the Soboba Rez.
Sadly this latest round of violence is nothing new.
We've known for years how rugged Soboba is. When we go to play ball, our Aunties told us to play our game and come home, do not pass go.
ReplyDeleteMoney has nothing to do with it.
Long before there were CASINO'S on these reservations, there were murders, mayhem and disruption. The recent KILLINGS in Soboba have absolutely NOTHING to do w/the Casino itself.
ReplyDeleteTo place blame on the Casino is ludicrous in itself. While the monies generated from this gaming have provided many good things, along w/the good, comes the bad.
Soboba is no different from any other REZ, things happen. People are the ones who spread rumors, out anger, frustration & feed the fire....
Bad people are everywhere, it's just when things happen out in Soboba, ppl seem to forget, that murder, robbery, mayhem is not isolated to one place or another but RUNS RAMPANT in today's world.
Come on ppl, pull your heads out of the sand!!! Put the blame where it belongs.
Now their Leader is trying to blame the Sheriff's for all the trouble. Look in the mirror Soboba. Your out of control members have brought this on themselves. You live in the United States, just like the out of control young Pechanga tribal members that forced the closure of 2 popular clubs, you are not above the law!
ReplyDeleteSo why does violence happen on the Rez? Look fer the solutions, bein racist or discriminating against fellow other tribes aint helpin nothing.
ReplyDeleteReally, what will bring and or restore peace. I reckon looking at other resevations that have a quality of life better than yer's would be a start???????

What? Just stating facts about what things are going on at Casino Tribes in Riverside Co. Violence & Coruption with no concern for others, Indians or not. Too bad these "bad apple's " are giving all Native American's a Black eye.
ReplyDeleteMany of you have written here that the killings have nothing to do with the Casino itself, thats true, but as an avid gambler of 2 or 3 trips a week at either Pechanga, Pala, or Soboba, why would i bother to even go near a Casino that has violence associated within the confines of the community. This will severely effect the gaming at Soboba, just look at what happened recently to the Mexican city of Tijuana, from recent local gunfighting, border crossings are down over 90%.
ReplyDeleteIf Soboba wanted to do themselves a favor at this point, IMO they should be one of the first Indian gaming casinos to go smoke free. That would attract an amazing amount of gamblers from 100 miles square. Then they would be able to prove to commuunities that they really do care about the health (2nd hand smoke) & welfare of the community. I hope someone is listening here, 75% of Atlantic City is smoke free and it didnt effect gaming whatsoever. Proven to be the main ingrediant in 2nd hand smoke...arsenic or rat poisoning, not to mention carbon monoxide, just waiting for an avid gambler to file suit on an indian casino relating to 2nd hand smoke with the knowledge we know of today, what are they thinking anyway.
Also believe that professional musicians like Alan Jackson lets say, will stay clear away from a Casino that has security issues with the local Sherrif. I doubt his rescheduled show will ever take place, watch and see.
While I will admit, violence anywhere near a CASINO, will more than likely cost $$$$$ and entertainers willingness to come out...This is something that the tribe needs to address immediately for everyone's sake, residents & patrons alike!!
ReplyDeleteI will also agree that SOBOBA Casino needs to go SMOKE FREE...this will bring in more ppl and also make it a lot more pleasurable to be there...
The spokesman,in my opinion is speaking out of the frustration over the LACK OF COMMUNICATION between the Sheriff's dept and the Council...
A few may run amuck, but the communities as a whole should not be branded as "bad" as a whole for the wrong doing of just a few.
What YOU read online, in the paper or hear on the news is not always how situations happen...don't read more into a situation that is there.
NO ONE SHOULD BE ABOVE THE LAW! Whether you are tribal, government or whatever..However, we all know that some are here and all over the US!
Looking at other reservations w/a better quality of life may be the answer...looking for direction from elders, and those who live their lives free of drug & alcohol abuse is another, but in reality one has to look inside for the right answer!
It's a curious thing to me. There's money and the clear opportunity that comes along with that...such as the potential to change your life...to make a contribution...but instead it's automatic weapons, shootouts with police, belligerence, aggressiveness, bullying, tagging, drugs, and on and on. It's the rights of the citizens of San Jacinto that are being violated, over and above the rights of the tribe and I move to sue the tribe for violations of our rights.
ReplyDeleteI am writing in regards to the violence on the Soboba Indian Reservation. The people of Soboba are good people. I think it is a crime the the Riverside County Sherrifs has been allowed to harrass, jail, beat, rob and murder these people. No community is perfect. All communities have crime.
ReplyDeleteyou talk about some familes as if your opinion matters. you are a coward just like the rest of your family. i wish you could really do something for your people instead of just talking shit on a web sight . watch my back because thats how cowards come but then again im not worried because talking is more your style. dont sing it, bring it.
ReplyDeleteSome of my family is from the Soboba Tribe and yea they are pretty tuff but you gotta be in this world. But you all are making it seem like its only this tribe when in reality this shit has been going on all around the world. Why are you people just focusing on this one tribe? Its amazing how us as humans can be so judgemental on others when probably more then half us making a comment or being critics are either criminals or commited a crime, so instead of looking at what other people are doing I think maybe things would change if people would focus more on their own life and how to make YOU better. Work on yourselfs let everyone else deal with their own.
ReplyDeleteTo all haters and fucked up head bullies ( shut up and use your head if you have a brain ) Soboba is not dangerous and if there were any incidents that happened I would not judge for one reason ( you are not Soboba ) so you know no shit about any shit however based on what I read I do not know details but tribal members do not act above the law like that comment says they are already above the law because they are tribal members and there is no safe place on earth if you do not watch your back so instead of using your big fucking eyes to destroy Soboba reputation use the same big fucking eyes to mind your own dan business and I know Soboba not so close but as my knowledge it is safe just like any other place you have to watch your back but sometimes you can not it is just life but I would not attack Soboba reputation if I were you and last not least shooting of innocent people is wrong whether it is from sheriff department or not but again I donot know the story but tribal always have their own right to their own land and laws and they do not have to be under any one's control weather you like it or not .
