Pechanga Chairman Mark Macarro on Nancy Pelosi: She knows the trust responsibility of the Unites States

Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians Chairman Mark Macarro, who has betrayed so many of his tribal constituency, spoke highly of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi after she met with the 21 of our nation's Native people. Many of them honorable, others, like Macarro, who dishonor the memory of true Pechanga people.

“To the recollection of many participants, no sitting speaker of the House has ever convened an issues meeting with tribal leadership,'' Macarro said. “Clearly, Speaker Pelosi understands the trust responsibility of the United States with tribes and regards it with the utmost seriousness.”

Macarro FAILED to uphold this basic tenet of Pechanga law:

"IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS OF THE BAND TO UPHOLD AND ENFORCE THE CONSTITUTION, BYLAWS, AND ORDINANCES OF THE TEMECULA BAND OF LUISENO MISSION INDIANS; AND ALSO, TO UPHOLD THE INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS OF EACH MEMBER WITHOUT MALICE OR PREJUDICE."

  1. t is a sad world that we live in when people like M. Macarro are lauded for the supposed accomplishments of a humanitarian nature. Mark hides behind the wealth of the tribe, and the politicians who he shakes hands with are as blind to the damages he causes, for they have the same motives as dose he. I am not surprised that Ms. P believes that the fiduciary responsibility that is entrusted to congress is being met.
Given the understanding that the US recognizes tribal governance as sovereign bodes ill for all who are mistreated by said tribal governments for it is now common knowledge that sovereignty trumps the rights of the individual. Unfortunately real change will be hard won and the cost to the individual will be tremendous. If there is a peaceful way in achieving the changes that will insure the rights of the individual are upheld, then please come forward you warrior of peace and lead your people. The people in office who claim to protect the rights of the people know not who we are they know only the governments who are the representatives. In closeting we must embrace the idea that change must come from the people, so embrace the concept of a peaceful revolution, if there ever can be on to stope the corruption of unchecked and totalitarian governments .
