Here is the Boy Scout Law with links that show how Pechanga does not follow the laws of the Boy Scouts. Boy Scout Law A Scout is: •Trustworthy, •Loyal, •Helpful, •Friendly, •Courteous, •Kind, •Obedient, (didn't follow tribal law with disenrollment) •Cheerful, •Thrifty, •Brave, (they beat an elderly customer) •Clean, •and Reverent. Original Pechanga's Blog hereby requests that the Boy Scouts rethink this reward, exercise their moral outrage and do not patronize the resort/casino. The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians, which hijacked the Temecula Band of Luiseno Indian's federal recognition, is well known for terminating Indians from their rightful place in the tribe. Since the advent of casino gaming Pechanga's disenrollment of 230 adults from the tribe is second only to the Picayune Rancheria in the termination of Native Americans in CA.

Boy Scouts Err in Awarding Pechanga Tribe for Ethics and Family Values
Is it possible for the Boy Scouts to make a WORSE choice for an award for ethics and family values than the Pechanga Band and its Chairman Mark Macarro?
The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians is getting an award from the Boy Scouts of America Tahquitz District. (contact info at this link, please write with your disapproval)
The district will present the tribe with its Distinguished Citizen Good Scout of the Year Award at a dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 29 at Pechanga Resort & Casino. The award recognizes those whose personal ethics and family values are represented by the Scout Oath and Law.
The Boy Scout Oath:
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
Dear Boy Scouts, please take some time to read the links and archives of this blog to see how your recipient does not fit with the Boy Scout Oath: Lying to Congress; Eliminating elders from the tribe; physically removing young children from the tribal school; keeping people from their own land; banishment; terminating health coverage for 25% of the tribe; failure to follow tribal law; Denial of Due Process; keeping rightful members from enrolling in the tribe; Theft of Per Capita.
I can't believe that the Boy Scout supervisors are unaware of what Pechanga has done to their own people.
ReplyDeleteDon't embarrass the Scouts by giving an award to a civil rights violator.
How brave was it when the tribal rangers threw our children out of the school?
ReplyDeleteHow brave was it when the casino security beat Richard Swan?
Morally straight? The Tribal Council? LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the Boy Scouts will reconsider. Has anyone written them?
ReplyDeleteThere must be a better choice for the Boy Sccouts. Please reconsider.p
ReplyDeleteSwan wasn't beaten, get the facts straight. You know as well as I that the employees involved failed to follow their training and were dismissed. Making over the top statements doesn't help your cause, especially when the general public can see through the BS. Your cause is just. You don't need sensationalist statements to bolster your points. Stick to the facts, and you'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteNo he wasn't beaten, he just repeatedly fell down smashing his face into the floor and had to go to the hospital.
ReplyDeleteSwan must have been lying when he said: "They slammed my head into the marble floor and dragged me to their security room. I feared for my life knowing that the Coumadin I am taking could cause severe bleeding. If I bled internally or developed a clot in my head I'd be dead. By the grace of God I survived."
ReplyDeleteAnd the medical people who gave him attention must have been MORONS for attending to injuries that didn't happen?
Well, maybe the Boy Scouts could have gotten a merit badge for first aid had they been there for Mr. Swan.
ReplyDeleteStill like giving that award BSA?
maybe boy scouts should go camping with yollies brother?
ReplyDeleteThe boy scouts should find out about the Masiel crime family and the elder Ibanez team too.
ReplyDeleteBoy Scouts, are you sufficiently embarrassed yet?
ReplyDeletePechanga has violated the civil and BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS of their elders, their children. They don't deserve anything but SCORN.
The boy scouts are just like the Pechangans & Politicians, All About the $$$. They don't care the source unless they are exposed, Make this public and get it in the local papers.
ReplyDeleteI really don't want to believe this, I would like to hope that every group out there is not corrupt and greedy.
ReplyDeleteI will continue to believe that the Boy Scouts are an upright and good organization, until shown otherwise.
I hope they do not make the mistake of giving this award to a corrupt and evil person like Mark. But then again I once believed in Mark.
I believed his words, and the sincerity of his face, until he proved otherwise. I voted for him not once but several times.
I believed him when he said "there were no family's targeted for disenrollment, and that it was just a rumor".
I believed he spoke with a sincere and true heart when he said "we should listen to out Elders like Antino Ashman when they speak".
I believed he was a honest (but misunderstood) Chairman until when my Elder Mother came to him and complained that the Enrollment Committee had lied, he laughed in her face and said "if you don't like lying, then make lying against the law".
It is true that Mark Macarro actually told a Hunter family elder who had went to the tribal council to complain that the enrollment committee had lied regarding the enrollment of her grandchildren who ended up stuck in the moratorium, "maybe you should take out a petition to make it illegal for the enrollment committee to lie."
ReplyDeleteI guess that really does say where the man's heart really lies.
