Draft Testimony for Temecula Indian Heirs to Pechanga Reservation

Attached and pasted below is draft testimony in opposition to the Pechanga Water Settlement Act, HR 5413, which is in the House of Representatives. Feel free to copy the draft and and some of your own testimony. The Tosobol Family has over 100 heirs, the Hunters almost double that. The Subcomittee on Water and Power is accepting testimony regarding the bill through tomorrow, but I suggest that you submit today to:

Camille.Calimlim@mail.house.gov

PHunterHeirTestimonyHR5413[1]

Your testimony will help Congress make the decision NOT to give water rights authority to the same tribal council that has stripped you of your rights, or kept you from sharing and making decisions on what is rightfully yours and your heirs.

  3. Your family is so weak, you will not get enough of you together to do anything of worth.

    Hunter's are lazy and ineffective.

  5. Thank you Anonymous @ September 29, 2010 1:23 PM.

You inspire me. And let me know that YES I should continue on this path and do what ever I can to help expose the corruption that goes on within MY tribe.

And on another note.. Why is it that you think I AM so weak. When it is you who is hiding behind an "Anonymous" post.. To me, YOU seem to be the weak one who is afraid to post under your name when you post. What could you possibly be afraid of?

it seams that someone didnt like us praying or picking sage on our land .So for now we cant even use their roads . they say we have to be members of the tribe to use their roads you see my family as been on a moritirium now for 14 YEARS they say that open enrollment is every january of every year . but they have been extending it 4 years at a time next enrollment date 2014 they tell us we have to wait . we are all descendant of petra tosobal their are 105 in our family she was given an alottment on the rez. AS You can clearly see our rights have been violated . our family dates back to the 1700 and we have proof of this our heritige has never been broken so why wont thay let us in

  9. I'm surprised that we don't hear more about the families and people in the moratorium.

How many are there? Why don't they have a site for their issues? Or I guess, why don't they speak up more on this blog? Is it only for one family, or does the blog let others speak...

Why don't they speak up... or have they elsewhere... where can we go to find that information,.

Of course anyone can post here as can be seen by our critics from the tribe coming here and bashing us.

I think some people stuck in the moratorium buy into the myth that if they keep quiet, then somehow they will be let in so they keep their distance from us.

  12. Ya well, there is concern within the Band that families are joining forces and making to much noise. Keep up the good work, every little bit helps. Things are looking good.

  13. Watch video of Senate Hearing regarding Water rights. Pay close attention.

Dorgan toys with Macarro like a cat with a toy.

Water is a precious commodity that should not be thrown away.

Signing this bill will be another Macarro folly. Pressure is on to rush Pechanga to lose an important
asset by signing away rights. Temecula wants this valuable asset and politicians want to use it as a power tool.

Macarro needs to watch this video many times to catch the various nuances. Dorgan and other parties who will benefit from Pechanga's loss treat Macarro like a fool they can mislead.

Read the article on the Crow Water Settlement. It discusses the matter of Indian land owners not benefiting from the settlement. Washington ignores input from Indians who have much to lose.

Quick and easy is what Washington wants. They are not concerned with the plight of owners of Pechanga who will be robbed of valuable access to water rights.

The meeting at Pechanga was deliberate and exclusive of moratorium and disenrollment Indians' rights.
