A big welcome to the U.S. House of Representative Committee staffers who have been visiting our blog over the past few weeks. We know you will find it informative as you help frame decisions made about the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians and their quest to usurp the water rights of Temecula Indians granted allotments and rights by Presidents Arthur, Cleveland and McKinley.
There is much for you to learn and we request you spend time here, to learn what Pechanga Chairman Mark Macarro and his brother John Macarro ARE NOT TELLING YOU. THIS is the place to learn about what is going on in California's Indian Country. Pechanga, Picayune, Redding, Enterprise, Jamul, Robinson Rancheria are among the few who have violated the rights of their people.

Stop Tribal Corruption.
This is much bigger than California Indian Country - the corruption in tribal governments is coast to coast and the tribe's have learned that they can eliminate all dissent by disenrolling and banishing anyone who gets in their way.
9 Snoqualmie tribal members were banished by the Snoqualmie tribe in 2009 - a Federal Judge overturned our permanent banishment, yet the tribal council just scoffs at the judges decision and still will not allow us back into the tribe despite the court case Sweet vs Hinzman. There is no way to enforce the Judge's decision. Where is the justice there?
In the 20th century, treason in the United States has become largely a wartime phenomenon, and the treason cases of World Wars I and II were of minor significance.
Most states have provisions in their constitutions or statutes similar to those in the U.S. Constitution, yet there have been only two successful prosecutions for treason on the state level, that of Thomas Dorr in Rhode Island (1841) and that of John Brown in Virginia (1859) - yet within the 564 tribes there are over 11,000 disenrollments/banishments. Our charge was treason and there was not even an investigation - we were not allowed due process or the liberty of being heard. Where is the justice for Native Americans? When will our civil rights be protected?
It is very ironic that we are the first people and the last to enjoy the freedom of basic civil rights!

P.S. - The Snoqualmie Tribe is in Washington State.
What about the Major Crimes Act? If we are to be charged with "treason" why are we not allowed a Federal defense? To be disenrolled or banished from a tribe is a life-time sentence......the Major Crimes Act only allows for a 3 year sentences not life-time sentences! We are all on our tribe's base rolls - those are our sacred tribal history yet all over the United States the tribe's are being allowed to re-write history and enroll/disenroll anyone they want to without reason. The Declaration of Human Rights Article 9 states that we cannot be arbitrarily removed.....and yet it happens everyday across the United States - a nation of hypocrites!
Thank you Staffers for all the work you do behind the scenes. This is an opportunity for you to DO WHAT IS RIGHT and not give the Pechanga Tribe an opportunity to abuse reservation allottees any further.
