Censorship of Bad News: Not All News is Fit to Print at Pechanga.net

The website Pechanga.net which is owned by Victor Rocha, a Pechanga tribal member, prides itself on being the internet news resource for Indian Country, should be ashamed this week.

Word came from the Pechanga Reservation in Temecula that long time chairman Mark Macarro, who first made news as the spokesperson for Indian Gaming in California, and later as the chairman who destroyed many lives of longtime Pechanga people by not following the Pechanga Constitution and Bylaws via moratorium, and later with the disenrollment of two large families and their votes, was the subject of a recall petition.

Original Pechanga's Blog contacted Mr. Rocha and asked why we didn't see news of the recall attempt on one of the richest tribe's chairman, he responded that "he didn't consider the blog a news source".     That's fair enough, as this blog is still growing, but finding an audience from:  The BIA, House of Representatives, Dept. Of Justice, The President's Office, The Senate, all of which have check Original Pechanga's Blog at least once in the last 10 days.   Yet, HE is a news source and HE is first cousin to Mark Macarro and his mother used to dine with Hunter descendents regularly.    It's curious that Rocha is censoring the bad news, don't you think?

If you bad news of your own tribe, are you and accomplice, or a newsman?   Why not let Indian Country know that Macarro is being looked at by members of his own tribe for ouster?    There also was no report about a Pechanga tribal member,a manager at the casino that is under investigation from the F.B.I.     You, dear readers, make the call.

  5. What went down when the deputy got shot on the second floor at pechanga casino? I just watched the youtube video on it and heard the dispatcher? Does pechanga have security why did they not back up the deputy on the second floor I saw the youtube video no excuse for that?

  6. Not all Pechanga security is armed. The sheriff's department wouldn't want a bunch of armed security to get in the way. I believe some were honored for their help

  7. Victor Rocha is there to do Mark's bidding. And he has no interest in hurting the tribe by getting the truth out there.

    ReplyDelete
  8. His site is just a posting of news, he doesn't really write anything, so unless the recall was published it wouldn't be posted.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Rocha puts up press releases and also call his site a news site.

I believe Rocha is capable of writing a simple story. He's posted information about Macarro winning elections in the form of press releases.

This is censorship, plain and simple.

  10. Does anyone know the results of the PDC election - What the vote counts were etc.?

  11. I think rocha just pastes stuff on his site, but does not write!

NOW if the COSMIC poet had a site I would love to read that!

The COSMIC poet should write ,saga,love,crime,etc,...

  12. Who cares about the election,I'm not a tribal member!

Did you hear about the NEW MORATORIUM "WINE" its called"STORMY WEATHER"!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey Original Pechanga you should make this an underground website access only to private members.

Boot tribal members like they diserolled you!

    E-mail code numbers to people.

Of course allow access to The white house, but not tribal goons.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Now why on earth would we want to make this website private?
We want EVERYONE to see this site and visit here. We was the tribal members to see what they have done to all of us.
If we "booted" them as you suggest, they can continue on their merry way with no consequences.
Bring on the tribal goons, we have an honest answer for every lie they bring here.

You, anonymous could help more by sharing this site with EVERY person your know and ask them to come here. If you want privacy, call someone on the phone.

  15. what moron would want this site to be private? The people need to know whats up at Pechanga. Dont be stupid and take this private

  16. these are not family secrets. These are public misdeeds that people need to know. everyone should be working to keep business away from Pechanga Casino. They cheated their own.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Public misdeeds?

Your trying to body slam the tribe because macarro is a "DICK"!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Everyone knows that Macarro is a "dick".

Body slam the tribe? Maybe, then they'll know what it feels like. Our relatives had died having their citizenship stripped from them.
Others have lost $1.3 Million in income, not including health benefits, educational assistance.

Why shouldn't the tribe be body-slammed? I could live with the casino going under. It's been bad news for hundreds.

  19. How's Raymond Sr. getting along financially? Has he paid off his loan from the tribe?

Bet he just wants money from the water settlement....

  20. You lost touch with whats real! Somethings have been done wrong and are illegal but ,there is no legal means to fix it!

You must come to grip with it? Live with it! You cannot do anything about it! Be rational do not listen to these people in here and let them jump start you!

You have no outlet? You have no means to win (you can,t win) there is no (laws) be real! (come down to earth)!

GIVE ME ONE LAW THAT WILL GIVE YOU A WIN?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pechanga tribal law would be one. The Council simply has to overturn the ruling that the Hunter family disenrollment couldn't be stopped by the vote of the people.

Winning can take many forms, including adding enforcement to ICRA. Or, the keeping the water rights bill from going through, which we accomplished.

  22. You give Victor too much credit he sided with his cousin to get us out of the tribe. He's corrupt just like the rest of them. Did you really think he would report on his cousin's recall. Wake up Pechanga people how long are you going to let the Macarro's ruin what used to be our tribe. CPP was driven by greed Mark is driven by power just like Hilter. Does anyone think we should put in an new application for enrollment this January, they might enroll us just to get Mark out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You were given up! (LIKE BEING GIVEN OF FOR ADOPTION)

"The Council simply has to overturn the ruling that the Hunter family disenrollment"

I do feel bad for you (I HAVE BEEN THERE) you can't make someone love you,nor force them to take you back.

Who would want to go back where they are not loved?

The love you seek is already around you (its your kids and family)!

    Now thats true medicine!

    ReplyDelete
  24. If we aren't completely discouraged now, nothing anonymous of December 14, 2010, 10:15 AM can say can make us give up so ya 'sour puss' give up trying to make us give up.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's not about going back for love, it's about having what's rightfully yours and your children.

Why is Pechanga citizenship right for Butch Murphy and not for Tosobols, who have land and are related to Munoas?

    ReplyDelete
  26. WALK AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

your hearts in the wrong place!

    sour puss,

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thank you, a true answer its not about love or family its about money and whats yours!

I was reading that from above!

    sour puss,

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous who says walk away is ridiculous. Why should we? Why should we let A person like FEANCES miranda cheat our elders and children without consequences? Sourpuss? How many pechanga people are Happy, Is Ray Sr. happy? Why not?

  29. What’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong, My family and the Hunter family were wronged in the worst way, so I will never go away. For those of you who forgot it is my great, great, great, great, grandfather, “Pablo Apis” land that the Casino sits on, Until the casino is moved to another location there is nothing that is going to change my mind about belonging. I know the truth and I know who lied. It is sad that family has done such wicked things for power and money.

  30. Frances Miranda is a hateful woman.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Why don't you people start your own tribe? You can call yourselves the WannaBees!
Do yourselves a favor and get past this in your lives.
Your families never should have been enrolled, and now you will never be enrolled.
Balognia Pony, how come you never brought your kids to meet their relatives? It was never about heritage, only money! Your not part of our family, by your choice!

    ReplyDelete
  32. There is no need to start our own tribe. We have a rightful place in the Temecula Band of Luiseno Indians. As do over a hundred people in the moratorium.

We were enrolled, rightfully, as history reveals through depositions taken in the Luiseno language from prior to WWI, from Temecula people who KNEW Paulina Hunter.

If we, the Hunters, never should have been enrolled, then why, years before we were disenrolled, did the following people sign the enrollment card and/or the official date stamped approval letter from the enrollment committee of a Hunter family member who was enrolled during open enrollment?

    Raymond Basquez
    Ruth Masiel
    Vincent Ibanez
    Francis Miranda

But when the Hunters were disenrolled years later these same people, some of whom were still on the committee, voted against the Hunters tribal membership or submitted statements against the Hunter family's membership.

So what changed after open enrollment ended in 1996?

Well the tribe got the casino.

Again, why approve us in the first place if as they now claim, that we never truly belonged?

    ReplyDelete
  34. That's why Tribes should Never Adopt members, especially non-ndns!

    ReplyDelete
  35. start are own tribe called the wannabees most of the people now in the tribe should be called should notbees ha ha ha smartass

    ReplyDelete
  36. Rocha does a good service by gathering news and putting it in one location, as Native news rarely gets noticed.

That being said, he lessens his impact by censoring news of his home tribe. It's hard to take him as serious.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's getting notice that the current leadership has seperated itself from the tribe. The Temecula Band of mission Indians is still a force to be looked at Pechanga.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And all of us readers and contributors from the many tribes that have joined Pechanga in violating the rights of their people need to continue to work to advance our issues.

More visits here and tribalcorruption.com can help, even in a small way

  39. For the people who keep saying that the "disenrolled should get over it and live their lives" should take note that if it were true that they don't belong, why is their a moratorium and why can not every TRUE descendent be enrolled??

The reason is is because they belong as much as you and so do the moratorium or anyone else who can prove their lineage.

The members of today are greedy and prevent those of us to join our rightful place and receive the benefits of such.

If its not about the almighty dollar, their would be not moratorium and the tribe as it stands would have no fear or greed about letting new people in.....
