Assemblyman Luis Alejo (D) Salinas Honors Two Tribal Leaders from Tribes That Violated Their People's Civil Rights.

Mr. Alejo, HAVE YOU NO SHAME?  You have submitted for honor two people from tribes that have violated the civil and basic human rights of a huge percentage of their people.   Picayune has terminated 50% of their people and Pechanga 25%.  Also, Pechanga is not allowing an entire family into the tribe as required by their own Constitution.    Do you not have a STAFF to look into these matters? Or just campaign collectors..?

The California State Assembly has recognized four tribal leaders for their contributions to promote and preserve Native American Indian history and culture in California.

Honored in a resolution that declared November as Native American Heritage Month were Morongo Band of Mission Indians Vice Chairwoman Mary Ann Andreas; San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Chairman James Ramos; Pechanga Band of LuiseƱo Indians Chairman Mark Macarro; and Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians Vice Chairwoman Nancy Ayala.

The resolution, which passed in the Legislature last week, was introduced by Assemblyman Luis A. Alejo, D-Salinas.  Alejo has receive quite a bit of money from Tribal Interests, over $17,000  (not that it had anything to do with it)  Chuckchansi Economic Development Authority, $3,900; Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians, $2,000.

  1. WHAT IS WRONG with these people! Don't they do ANY research on the people who they are honoring?

I know we can shout corruption from the house tops, but I have a feeling that they are just rubber stamping these awards.

It just angers me when I imagine the stupid smug look of satisfaction Mark will give when he receives this award.

This man is freek'n evil people! Do some research on the guy please.

I am tired of letter writing, trying to shed some light on this kind of award giving. I don't think it does any good as I am sure my letters go right into the waste basket.

  2. Rep. Alejo was looking at dollar signs, not signs of corruption.

    Your mother would be proud?

  3. THIS SORT OF "CRAP" IS NEVER ENDING! THERE IS NO RESEARCH INVOLVED, JUST THE "WHITE MAN" IN BED WITH CORRUPT TRIBAL LEADERS. THEY DON'T EVEN CARE ABOUT NATIVE AMERICAN "HERITAGE," THEY "NEVER" DID. "WHY THAT EVIL, AND CORRUPT "MARK MACARRO?" FOR WHAT? WITH "HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS" AT AN ALL TIME HIGH, AND MORE PENDING: "THEY ARE GIVEN AN AWARD?" WHERE IS THE JUSTICE IN THAT? YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THAT THE GOVERNMENT WON'T EVEN VENTURE INTO BLATANT "HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS" AGAINST NATIVE AMERICAN RIGHTS BECAUSE, "YOU GUESSED IT, THERE IS "NO MONEY" TO BE MADE." THE "CASINO INDIANS" PAY THE GOVERNMENT TO DO THERE BIDDING, FOR I ASK YOU: "WHOSE TO STOP THEM!" ...."NO ONE!"... "CORRUPTION IS, WHAT CORRUPTION DOES!" THEY MAKE THIS STUFF AS THEY GO. IT IS SO VERY HARD TO FIGHT THESE CRIMINALS WHEN THE GOVERNMENT AND TRIBAL LEADERS ALL PLAY FROM THE SAME UNFAIR PLAYBOOK AGAINST TRUE NATIVE AMERICAN FOR "GREED AND POLITICAL POWER!" THE "AWARDS" SHOULD GO FOR "TREASONOUS ACTS AGAINST THEIR OWN PEOPLE!"

  4. Just because Luis Alejo took Pechanga's money and Picayune, it doesn't mean that the award was bought.

Of course, it does make it more difficult to pass the smell test. ....yep...it stinks.

  9. THINK OF 1920'S, CHIGAGO, AND AL CAPONE. HE WAS PAYING OFF THE GOVERNMENT AND THEY GAVE HIM AWARDS, THEN HE THOUGHT HE WAS ABOVE THE LAW AND THEY FINALLY HAD TO TAKE HIM DOWN. EMBEZZLEMENT, THAT'S ALL THEY COULD GET HIM FOR BECAUSE HE WAS TO DEEPLY ENTRENCHED. NOW THINK MARK MACARRO, SEE ANY SIMILARITIES?

  11. for ALL nations...for ALL chukchansi peopleSeptember 18, 2011 at 4:44 AM

Perhaps Assembleyman Alejo should go to the BIA office down the street in Sacramento and take a look at the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indian tribal documents from the early 90's. There he would find tribal hearing proceedings which show that current Picayune vice chair Ayala was removed from the tribe for theft of tribal records, funds, and property along with ten other members of her extended family at that time.

Specifically, the theft included enrollment records that later were deemed "incomplete" by the enrollment committee when the tribe audited records and subsequently disenrolled nearly 600 people in 2006-2007...nearly HALF the tribe!!!

In this instance of "honoring" at the state capitol, character DOESN'T count...those chosen from both Picayune and Pechanga prove this without question!!!

  12. I guess the question is: What is the criteria or basis for giving these awards to Human, and Civil Rights Violators? They have stripped the true Native American of their Birtright and Heritage for nothing more then Corruption, Greed, and Political power, so for what are they getting an award for? "Treasonous acts and treachery" against the Indians in their charge? How could the Government even "Justify" giving an award to these "Unjust Criminals?" They have done nothing to heal what is broken in Indian Country. Pechanga, alone, has removed 25% of its membership: "ILLEGALLY," and with the full backing of the Government(Indian Affairs), who routinely turn their "Blind Eye" to these unlawfull acts. Unlawfull acts that are so "blatant" against their own legal members within the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians, that there is no way that "Mark Maccaro" could even be (realistically) considered for an award! Treasonous acts is his "Legacy!"
