PECHANGA Tribe Complains Liberty Quarry Re-Writing History: SAY WHAT? Pechanga Does That

The recent meeting concerning Liberty Quarry in Temecula brought this from Pechanga Tribal Councilman Andrew Masiel:

The Pechanga Band of LuiseƱo Indians says the project would destroy a site central to its story of creation. Tribal Councilman Andrew Masiel Sr. said Monday he wondered what he would tell his granddaughter if the quarry obliterated the site.

“With every ounce of energy that I have, I’m going to ensure this isn’t going to happen,” he said.

Granite contends its quarry is well away from the creation site and that the tribe only recently raised cultural concerns. Tribal officials angrily deny this and accuse Granite of trying to rewrite Pechanga’s history.

This is a JOKE, right? Pechanga has constantly done just that. Councilman Andrew Masiel should tell his grandaughter that his family came from nowhere, latched onto the Pechanga Rez and fabricated it's history. Tell them her Aunt Jennie has a higher membership number than 75 Hunters who have had property since the reservations inception.

Tell his grandaughter WHY he was part of destroying the fabric of the tribe along with his Uncle Raymond Basquez Sr, and elder in the Masiel-Basquez Crime Family.

Ruth Masiel was orphan as a child and was taken in by the Salazar family. Latter when the casino came about she disenrolled her stepsisters (Edna Miranda) husband (Joe Miranda). He comes from the apis line they can prove who they are. Ruth Masiel being orphan with no proof of her biological family how does she prove her linear descent to Pechanga? She did find her birth certificate in San Diego but had it sealed I wonder why. Know she claims she comes from the Leyva line that’s Raymond and yolie Basquez. We now know the Leyva line has forge there paper work as Native Americans.

Did Yolie steal Raymonds food as a child?

'Claiming' and providing documents that are not forged are entirely different.

But having your family make the decision is priceless

Is Raymond still married to that loud mouth white woman that owns the dealer school?...wouldn't a true Pechanga marry from the tribe?

Some of the members/ ex-members have had to claim bankruptsy and lost everything. This is not fair that others have been recieving extra checks that should have gone out to the rightful recipients!!!! The government needs to step in and do something now!!!!

When has "Pechanga" ever worried about losing "Sacred Land?" What about that "Golf Course?" Land that "Pechanga" said they wouldn't change? Didn't matter to them "Then," so why are they even worried about it now? Do they have some other "Agenda" planned in reference to this......"Sacred Land?" With "Mark Maccaro" being the "Sniveling Little Weesel" that he is, his "Corrupt and Criminal Acts" are "Destroying" the "Pechanga Membership" from within and "Chickenhawk" is "Backing" his every "Evil Act" without "Question!" Our "Constitution and Bylaws" are in place so as to protect us all, but are "Totally Disregarded." Maccarro, you got to know your days of "Evil Acts" is numbered and we are all waiting, with "Bated Breath," for you to be measured for that "Federal Jump Suit" that you "SO RICHLY DESERVE!" You "Pompus A.., you think you are "Above The Law," but you are nothing more then a low life "Criminal" that "Illegally Destoys Lives" of the membership you are supposed to "Protect." Can't say it any "Plainer then that."

They are not rewriting the history, they are giving the Mexican version.

Do you guys remember several years back before the disenrollment of the Hunters, the Mark gave a speech to the General Membership about his desire to acquire and get into the rock quarry business? About how profitable it was and how the state capital used granite quarried from the Temecula area, and how superior it was from other areas?

Now a question comes to mind, did the Tribe acquire a rock quarry and is now trying to use the re-writing of Tribal history to squash there competition? Or are they hoping to acquire the property for future development?

Just makes me wonder....

Also if Tribal officials contend that Granite is trying to re-write Tribal history, this implies that somewhere it is written down that the Liberty Quarry area is the area of our creation. They should state how if this is so, how it raises GREAT concern. And out of respect and love for the Indian people they would do all that is within there power to make sure the site is protected.

And that if it is written down that the Liberty Quarry area is the area of Tribal creation, could they please show the Court where this is written (and please no hastily written notes on the back of a napkin from prison inmates).

Well, Jerry Brown's office findly got back to me on the "Tribal Advocate" position. He "Nominated A Native American Indian." It's a "Woman" and a "Judge,"...(Of what is not known yet.) She is from a tribe I never heard of, much less "Pronounce." So it's too be seen, "What," if any, "Help" for the "Oppressed Indian," will be "Realized," and to what "End!" You got to know that "Brown" hasn't been forthcoming on "Rights" of "Indians" in "California," so you can't help but "Wonder" where he is going with this "Advocate Position?" Or what his "Underlying Agenda" really is? "Browns" office will make the "Anouncement Today." The question is: Will they "Explain" the duties of this "Position?" For when I applied for this "Position" the duties that were explained to me was nothing more the a "Laison" between "Indian Tribes" and "Browns Office."..."Pretty Vague" to say the least.

What was her name and tribe? Was it in writing?

At least it wasn't Carole Goldberg

I think they decided their rock quarry wasn't economically feasable but wasn't it supposed to on land in the hills behind the casino? That is how I remember it.

I wonder what the public would think about them even thinking about getting into the rock quarry business considering all their talk, again, about protecting the land?

Could it be that since the tribe doesn't own the Liberty Quarry site, that is why they are against it?

This opinion piece should help clear the confusion expressed here regarding the creation site where the corporation wants to locate an aggregate quarry: INLAND: Don’t let quarry desecrate sacred tribal land: http://www.pe.com/opinion/local-views-headlines/20120205-inland-dont-let-quarry-desecrate-sacred-tribal-land.ece

Note that a granite (rock) quarry differs from an aggregate quarry.
