Pala's Chairman Smith Uses McCarthy-like tactic

In last night's KCBS broadcast of disenrollments at Pala and Pechanga, Pala  chairman Robert Smith sounded eerily like Joe McCarthy, when he claimed to have paperwork on the Margaret Brittains descendents, yet refused to show it.     "I have here in my hands...." McCarthy said...
Smith said he didn't have to show it because Pala was sovereign.   Well, customers, maybe you should refuse to visit that sovereign casino....

Finally there is some news coverage on this issue. While i'm against the exploitation our tribes and tribal issues because of our sovereignty, i am partial to the governance of our tribes. Our so called leaders have led us into the depths of hell. Too many Tribal Chairs have been in power so long that the forget their native ways. A tribe makes sure everyone on the REZ has food, has shelter, and never denies anybody because of there blood quantum. TRIBE MEANS TRIBE. The money is the issue and it has created a major catastrophe. It has ruined the will of our ancestors, our grandfathers, our fathers and us. It IS our own demise. To all people who have been disenrolled, the fights not over!! Its just Begun!!! AHO!!

  3. Your dynasty will soon come to end. You have messed with the wrong family. We are passionate people who have the blood of MB and we are her "trail of tears" to conquer all the civil rights violations that the tribes are committing with no due process. You can hide behind sovereignty for so long. We have the attention on Congress and we will! Not just for Pala but for all Native American! We are UNITED and we will stand up to those who have corrupted our tribes.

  4. You know. Even in a sovereign nation a murderer has a right to see the evidence presented against them. Why not show the so called holy grail of evidence that is an overwhelming document to prove who they are? Because there is only the word of a sovereign dictator. That's why. Come on congress. Wake up. You ever hear of north Korea. Sounds eerily familiar. Now is the time to right the wrongs.

  5. Smith is a Lying Thief, just like his mother was.History has a way of repeating itself.Remember she was Banned from selling tortilla rolls at the old Jim Banks ball field where the Fire station now stands.I'm sure she's smiling on him down in hell were she is for eternity. He exceeded her theft by far,how could she not be proud!

  6. Money has a way of changing a person. Just look at the casino Indian Mark. The Integrity of the tribe that they mention is actually money. If are so concern about keeping the tribe pure then why not remove Jennie and the entire Leyva line who have no paper work.

After an exhaustive review of the many pages of documents sent out by Chairman Smith to tribal members, I do not see anything on the Merced Nolasquez Probate of 1921. "Pelegrino Ortega" is named as father of Margarita Britten in those legal proceedings. Carolina Nolasquez, Merced's daughter testified that Merced had five half-sisters, including Margarita Britten, and "They had the same father, but different mothers." The Examiner of Inheritance, John B. Anderson, described on July 22, 1921 that Carolina's "intelligence and credibility of witness" was "Excellent". Even if the 1928 CA Indian Judgment Roll applications were used to determine Pala membership (It is not so allowed) the 1921 Probate records of Merced overwhelmingly win over later unreliable 1928 info. If you wanted to be honest about all of this, then wouldn't you put this conclusive sworn proof that Pelegrino Ortega was Margarita's father?

  8. Is that a sworn proof from Pelegrino Ortega ?

  9. "Is that sworn proof from Pelegrino Ortega?" ..why? Does the truth that the disenrollments were wrong scare you?

  10. The pala dissenrollements where not wrong, I don't know about the other tribes history, but my opinion on pala will remain the same. Reyes king freeman should have never messed with that issue in the first place. He is the one that opened up that case when he was in office. Other than that before then he was a 1/16, and his children where not members , neither where the 152 . So after decade upon decade of them not being enrolled , this guy is chairman of pala in the 80's the time they miraculously discovered they had more blood to bump him up to a 1/8? NOW WE ARE TALKING DECADES UPON DECADES WHEN OLD PEOPLE KNEW MARGARITA BRITTIAN PERSONALLY !!! Why was this issue even able to be brought to the table after all those decades of being the way it was? Even the kids of Peligrino knew margarita BRITTIAN and none of them said "hey that is my sister", . WHY? But they believe someone other than HER KIDS. And PELIGRINO KIDS? Was the lady they believe and take her word there when Margarita BRITTIAN was made.? That's what I don't get. It's all a crock and they should have never been enrolled in the first place. I think Mr Freeman should give all those people who where DISSENROLLED a share in his store and his investments! He should pay them all for HIS wrong doings! NOBODY ELSE TO BLAME BUT HIMMMM

  11. This IS about settling old scores and hatred. Thank you for pointing this out once again. Who were the first ones kicked out??

THE ISSUE WAS 'BROUGHT TO THE TABLE' BECAUSE THERE WERE PENNED CHANGES TO HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS!!! Let me ask you, if you went back into YOUR family lineage and found penned changes with no stamp, initial, or some sort of notation, wouldn't you try to get it corrected? Especially if it didn't match up with the one in DC? Please don't judge the Brittains because Mr. Freeman was chair during this time period. Mr Freeman kept nothing hidden, no documents were kept out of circulation, no scare tactics, and no one was misled--the complete opposite of what is happening now!!

Please note that this matter was also voted on at a duly called meeting AFTER the Final Decision was rendered from the BIA (no miracles, no secret dealings, just fact finding, research, and tribal procedure). This issue was "brought to the table" in accordance with the Articles of Association and Unlike the manner in which the 162 were expelled, EVERYONE, not just the Brittains had a voice and a vote. This is nothing remotely close to the practices of the current leadership in place and you damn well know it!!! Things going on at PALA since smith and gaming has been nothing but secret meetings, secret partnerships, scare tactics, and a complete disregard to Pala laws and procedures, among many other things.

Again, Mr Freeman did not perform a miracle when he led a movement to preserve his family's heritage. Nor did he do this for money as it was over a decade before the gaming ever started!

  12. Not to forget that the EC did not disenroll every ancestor of MB with the exact same blood quantum, he saved about 28 members. Probably his wife's side of the family. So, it proves that it has nothing to do with the blood.
