Word breaking this morning that California Senator Barbara Boxer, who has done NOTHING to protect the civil and human rights of Native Americans harmed by their own tribes, will retire.
UPDATE: ISSA fires a volley: There’s been a vacancy for two decades,” Issa said outside a men’s room near the House floor. “The fact that she’s not running doesn’t change the fact it’s always been a vacant office.”
We met with Boxer's Native American legislative analyst last year, on a bill where Pechanga was attempting to redefine what an allottee was, and steal our water rights, a bill written by the high paid lobbyist wife of Pechanga Chairman Mark Macarro. At least her guy had the decency to be EMBARRASSED when called out on her sponsorship of the bill.
Is it too much to hope that we can get someone in office who will ACTUALLY care about what tribes are doing? Can we find someone to put an end to corruption?
GOODBYE Senator Boxer, sorry you were so ineffective and unresponsive to the needs of your constituents.
Here's the type of response we got from her on the Water Rights Bill:
Dear Mr.
Thank you for taking the time to write and share your views with me. Your comments will help me continue to represent you and other Californians to the best of my ability.
Be assured that I will keep your views in mind as the Senate considers legislation on this or similar issues. If you would like additional information about my work in the U.S. Senate, I invite you to visit my website, http://boxer.senate.gov/. From this site, you can access my statements and press releases about current events and pending legislation, request copies of legislation and government reports, and receive detailed information about the many services that I am privileged to provide for my constituents.
You may also wish to visit http://thomas.loc.gov/home/thomas.php to track current and past federal legislation. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.
I appreciate hearing from you.
Sincerely, Barbara Boxer
United States Senator
W. T. F.!? TRANSLATION: We didn't read your letters.
Now Boxer will have to learn to live under the stupid laws she got passed.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope it's not a "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" situation.
