Bill Cosby Stood up FOR Chukchansi People, Does his GOOD WORKS GET LOST with his DESTROYED Reputation.

I will put up a video from former Cosby Show co-star and friend Joseph C. Phillips' commentary on CBS Sunday Morning below. His commentary focuses on Cosby's reputation and legacy, which should be two separately views things.

Does INDIAN COUNTRY remember when Bill Cosby stood up for disenrolled Chukchansi people? WE DO, we wrote about it in 2007 and a couple of times after:

Bill Cosby has canceled his Sept. 2 appearance at the Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino because of a dispute between the casino and an outside group over the tribe's efforts to get rid of some members. That group wrote a letter to Cosby to explain how it is upset with the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians, owners of the Coarsegold casino, for removing people from its membership rolls. "The letter was written to stop these performers from coming and supporting the tribes for doing what they are doing to the people," says Laura Wass, a Fresno-based American Indian activist who is a member of the group that sent the letter. Wass says Cosby was not singled out for any particular reason. He is just the first of several performers scheduled to appear at Chukchansi who have been sent letters regarding the dispute.

Keep in mind Indian Country, that Cosby stood up where, Gabriel Iglesias, Johnny Mathis, George Lopez, Emmylou Harris ALL FAILED to stand up against Apartheid and civil rights abuses, while is some cases, like Lopez, standing for Cuban rights, but not the rights of Natives.....

Joseph asks, "HOW MUCH of his legacy are we allowed to celebrate?"   Do we discard his wisdom?

Do we preserve what was good?   JCP says Cosby's legacy will depend on WHAT HE DOES NOW.
I believe he should "confess or admit that what he did was wrong".    What SAY YOU?

And please check out Joseph's page, I've linked it to his name above.

  2. Oh come on....the man gave drugs to women without their knowledge and had sex with him, yet he should be forgiven because he stood up for Indians? It tarnishes every aspect of his career. You have discussed the tribes rapists, well that is exactly what Cosby is according to court transcripts.that he wants to keep quiet. The man should be in jail if even one turns out to be true and it looks like there are at least 30.
He knocks other comedians for using bad language, but thinks drugging and raping are cool? Weird guy. IMHO.

  3. Who says he should be forgiven? Stop making things up.

    I said he should confess.

He won't go to jail, as the statutes have run....

  5. Ok Billy Boy pack up your shit and move to Pechanga, or Pala where the Tribal councils will kiss your ass. And maybe they will even enroll you in the Tribe.

  6. He probably slipped the council(s) some ludes and violated their sovereignty.

  7. I don't think that he would have to drug the councils because they like taking it in the "old poop chute".

  8. I think this proves he (Cosby) knows right from wrong. The man has a moral compass, he clearly did not use it, which makes his actions towards women even worse.

  9. I apologize O Pechanga, I read it wrong. I wasn't trying to make things up as you put it.

  10. So Bill Cosby canceled a non existent appearance at a casino that is still closed because of his high moral ground? Was this a slow news day?
