Evil Elder of Pechanga, Raymond Basquez Sr. IS DEAD.

Word from the Pechanga Reservation in Temecula is that Raymond Basquez Sr. elder of the Francisca Leivas Crime Family, IS DEAD.   The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians postponed the election scheduled for today, where Basquez's son, the FELON Raymond Basquez Jr. was running to replace Andrew Masiel Sr.

Basquez had been fighting cancer, which helped to provide a long, lingering painful death, similar to his sister Irehne Scearse, which makes us wonder if that was the creator's plan for them, after what they have done to the tribe via disenrollment and their blatant thefts from the tribe and native people. While taking no pleasure in the loss of life, I can offer no respect for this man either, after what he's done to our families.    I can only hope OUR ancestors can rest a bit more peacefully, knowing that this man who disrespected their heritage and harmed their descendants, is gone.

Raymond Basquez Sr.
Led CPP to Push for Disenrollment of TWO
large Pechanga Family to Steal Per Capita monies
.

There are many questions as to whether the senior Basquez's family Are TRUE PECHANGA PEOPLE? Many believe that they couldn't trace their ancestry to an original Pechanga person, we've written about that before.

Sad to speak ill of the dead, but his man deserves NO respect from those of us who he and his family harmed.  There no word on how the death will affect the dealer's school lawsuit currently pending on Basquez and his wife. Except we're pretty sure that a non-member will get no support from the tribe, as Basquez would have....

  3. There's the hate. Good example Cuevas. Even if you don't like the guy, you could have wrote it better. This is why no one will ever listen to your rhetoric. Good journalism. Ha.

  4. Fuck you Cuevas regardless of your feeling he was still a Pechanga elder and deserves respect if you know so much you should no we don't speak bad on Elders. Just because you can't prove your lineage do not hate on others especially the dead. Your weak pathetic Mexican plain and simple. This proves how low you are you hold no values you don't deserve to be buried in Pechangas graveyard with post like this.

Fuck you too, you speak bad about the Elders in Pala all of the time, so who the FUCK do you think you are, the Tribal God or something.
    You low life fucker.
Just wait until Robert Smith is laid to rest, then we will have a lot fun with his OBIT.

  7. I want to say something nice about the guy but I've known him for over 50 years and I just can't think of one thing. He was one of the meanest people I've ever known. Full of Hate and Anger. Well now that he's dead check out his death certificate. FYI Parents came from Mexico and lived in Blythe Ca. If the Pechanga Culture committee is still looking for their stolen artifacts check out Raymond's yard. He buried them all around his house! Seriously. We use to watch him.

  8. They postponed the Scheduled Tribal meeting for his death? I remember when we had to postpone our Tribal meetings at the school house in the 60s and 70s because Raymond and Jenny and Leslie Macarro and Francis and Butch would stand on the steps screaming to let them be enrolled in the tribe but had NO prof of lineal descent to the Base Roll of the Tribe. Tony Ashman confirmed that none of them were descendants of any Tribal Family. Raymond was NOT a Tribal Elder...He was always an IMPOSTER!

  9. Here's a man who smiled and pretended to be friends to fellow Silver Feather elders who were battling massive potentially fatal health issues as he plotted the demise of their healthcare Insurance. These are people he knew had more Pechanga blood in fingernail than him and his whole family, and we're supposed to respect him because he's old?

  10. I always try to remember to treat others as I want to be treated. It's not always easy but its a lesson in life I will never forget. We are ALL here. Hopefully we due more good than bad, I live better when I do good.

  11. Did any Hunter or Manuela Miranda descendant treat Raymond Sr. with anything less than respect, prior to he and his family looking to harm ours?

HIS son threatened or joked about digging OUR ancestors up from the tribal cemetery.

HE doesn't deserve our respect in death. While even Gambino's family cried at his funeral, it didn't make him less of an evil person. Same here with Basquez. His family may cry, but he was still an evil man.....

  12. When I first read here Raymond had passed I didn't see any mistakes about how it was written and wondered if anyone has a nice story to memorialize his life. Is there one. Well, maybe his widow has some because there were cut from the same fabric. Anyways, RIP old dog. Because the people of Pechanga can rest well knowing with your passing they won't have bullets shot at their homes.

@Palarez if you have something nice to share about Raymond please do. However, how that man treated the tribe and it's elders . . . nothing but hate in his heart. That's not how a Pechanga elder is.

  17. The widow was only in it for the money. Rushing to cash in the big life insurance. She is probably digging up the relics if they really are buried in the yard to put on eBay. What do you bet that she tries to put the school blame on Raymind? She always said it was hers, but now I bet she says it was his. Another one with a dark soul.

  48. At the next Pala meeting, Robert Smith wants a vote from the General Council (the tribe) to give the EC power over deciding disenrollments without the approval of the General Council, in other words: if the EC wants someone out, they just do it, no reasoning, no asking the people. Robert claims it is for the gangster problem at Pala (um, gangster problem? Didn't people complain about this exact thing a while ago, like 3 years ago and who was the one letting them on the Rez and who is the one hiring them to do his dirty work and to deal his drugs, but now they have become a problem to him?). He might want to rid the tribe of the gangsters because they are becoming too hard too handle, but he is really doing this so that the EC can have more power.
Another thing he wants is approval for the Attorneys that he has already had for more than 8 years and had never been approved by the ASIA or the General Council. 8 Attorneys at probably $5 million each a year, that is $40 Million for getting rid of members and going to court, wow, Howard used to get $25 Million a year, who knows if he still does, and now 8 attorneys which he would not need if he just re-enrolled. He is admitting that the tribe never approved these attorneys which he is being sued for. Supposedly one comment said that they heard Robert needed to have the tribes approval before this law suit goes to court. Of course he does, so of course it is once again a ploy to save his ass.
To the good people of Pala, please please vote these down. DO not give the EC power over everything, it could come back to haunt you. There is talk that if Eric is voted in, he will help Robert disenroll the Lugos and if this vote passes on the EC having complete control over disenrollments, it will be no big deal for Robert to do this. No more disenrollments. You can call the cops on the gangsters and put your expensive private security to work or even the Tribal Cops (huh, what?, who would have thought, maybe the tribal police can actually do their job.) Maybe Robert could stop paying the gangsters and giving them drugs, they would leave then.
No more attorneys, find out how much he is paying them. After all these are your attorneys if you are part of the tribe, and remember these are the ones who headed the disenrollments and the Brittains were part of the tribe and paying for them too, so they paid for their own disenrollments, which is exactly what can happen to any of you. Also remember, Robert directly told us that their would be no Brittain disenrollments, and the next month we received our letters, and then nothing but mean vile treatment since. Good Luck.

  49. It seems like the Basquez Crime family is dying out and leaving only the younger, felons floundering... Andy is OUT, Jennie is persona non grata, Ruth feeble, Irehne dead, Yolie just a shouter, Ronnie R. OUT... Maybe some sense coming back to the rez..

  50. That's a very honest post 10:13 AM and it's all true.
We just hope that the Members are brave enough to VOTE IT DOWN.
You know what strikes me as odd it that the Pala Band Was run for many yeas on the Articles of Association with very few amendments made to them. And now Amendments have become the focus of just about every Tribal Meeting, due you know why?
Well I do. It's because Robert Smith is getting worried that he is close to being exposed for all of the things that have been done illegally over the years and he needs more power over the Members to save his own ass from going to Federal Prison.
So the only way he can do this is to get the Tribe behind him by him lying to the Members to get this power.
He and Nieto and Perez lied to the Britten Family on the dis-enrollment issue. The EC told them that they would not be dis enrolled, that they were collecting more documents for the files to be updated. This was all a Fucken lie told by the EC Members to dis-enroll the Family Members. Go ahead and deny it EC because I can prove you wrong I have a CD of your bullshit Robert claiming that this was just a file update. BULLSHIT. Do you want the Members to hear it for them selfs, do you want me to send them all a copy of the CD so they can see what kind of leader they are supporting.
That's fine with me, it would make for a nice Christmas Gift for all to hear.
I am so damn tired of playing this little game with the EC and now it's time to play HARD BALL WITH THEM. They have had ample time to solve these issues but have done nothing but hurt more people.
And the little angel Nieto who is just as rotten and guilty as Robert, has become the biggest lying BITCH that ever lived in Pala
and she doesn't care about the People or the Reservation. Her karma has already kicked in and it will not go away until it has run its coarse. I can't believe that she is that stupid to take a chance on the lives of her family members that can be affected by her KARMA.
But I guess the maybe someday she will realize that it was Karma that that took her loved ones away from her. All because she was to stupid to know that Karma is real and has no mercy on the affected ones.

How about it Smith are you going to enforce this shit on your cousin that has all of these gang members from Oceanside at her house on a regular basis.
Aren't you afraid that one of them might try to take you or Nieto out one of these nights when you think everything is safe and comfy.
After all this is a Tribal Home "ON" Tribal Land. So what the fuck are you waiting for Chickenshit EC. why aren't you acting on it.
Maybe the angry members should act on it because Robert is not going to do anything to his cousin and everyone knows it.
Well all we can do is hope that one of these Oceanside Gang bangers will do something to either Smith or Nieto.

Lawyers don't make anywhere near the kind of money you're suggesting. Only litigators who sue for damages and take a percentage of the monetary award can make that kind of money. Tribal attorneys will typically make from $200,000 up to around $500,000. Probably a little more in some instances. They are essentially corporate attorneys on a salary. IF RS is paying lawyers millions, the Tribe is getting seriously fucked, and likely RS is getting big kick back.

I'm not Pala, but as an Indian Regulatory Act (IRA) tribe, doesn't your EC have all the power? Isn't your EC the Enrollment Committee and also the Grievance Committee? The People don't have the power in Pala, unless they take it. Am I wrong?

And you, Nov 3rd @ 3:05. WTF is wrong with you? Easy to talk your disrespectful garbage like a little punk from behind the safety of your computer and using "anonymous" as your name. 60. Howard Dickstein would get in a Limo at the airport and drive to Pala and pull in the under garage area of Casino and get out walk into the back of the Casino, unseen by people, and he would receive a briefcase of cash, $25,000,000. Once a year. Employees have witnessed this. They pay them on the down low for the things that they have done for Robert and the EC. Howard was the first one to help with the compact, he was involved with 8 tribes in California in helping them get Casinos, he got kickback from each one. He set up Robert with Amy and Sarah. Dentons might claim one amount like $400,000. but that is not the amount that Robert gives them for their help and silence. If Robert is literally stealing $100,000,000.00 a year from the tribe, he does not mind putting out the other millions to the lawyers who keep him in power. After all it comes from Casino Profits not his pocket.

  67. We all travel a path that we choose and make for ourselves. Whether you liked Raymond Sr. or not he was sure about his own path. He did represent that element within Indian communities that is not understood these days especially between per-capita and identity issues. It was almost impossible to stand with Raymond but you could stand to his right or his left. Either way it made you look at yourself and your own values. Raymond represented that battle that has been ongoing since creation. Tahquitz or Nahachish? Which one is your teacher. Which one is your guide through life. Which one provides you with the peace and comfort of mind that allows you to call yourself an Indian. If you knew Raymond, you knew that he played both sides of the fence. Whether he represented your idea or nature of culture he did represent culture. There is no life without good and evil. It is impossible here for us but we do believe that we will enjoy this when we finally join our families ourselves. If you saw Raymond as good you felt good with him. If you saw Raymond as bad you looked at yourself and the things that make you feel good. Either way he succeeded in making you feel good about yourself. If there are things that Raymond needs to resolve here with us then he has that one year to do so. I believe he will do this. There is no more question for him. His time has passed and his real future is about to begin. Let him make his rounds and find the peace that we all seek. When it is his time to finally leave us then let it be. Make that peace within yourself and do not worry about who he was. Every time you think about him and no matter what you think about him those thoughts will move you back to a feeling of good about something. It is impossible to feel good without feeling bad about something. It is time to acknowledge that in this sense he was a great teacher that walked among us. Now we have time to reflect on what lessons he taught us. It isn't even so much as to what he taught us but what we thought of ourselves as he walked away. If there is no hope for Raymond then there is no hope for anyone. Time to wish him safe passage and it is time to seek our own. He is no longer that matter for us to blame and escape our own responsibilities. Peace for Raymond and everlasting life with family as it is supposed to be.

  70. And don't forget that Raymond Sr. was part of the Splinter Group that took over our Tribe with Butch Murphy and stole our money from the Tribe over $10k that we worked and saved for Tribal infrastructure. When the BIA removed them from the Tribe they never payed us back. We worked really hard for that money back in the 1970's. Raymond Sr. shot at Bobbi Lemere's house when she backed out of disenrolling the Hunters. I saw him driving around with his hunting riffle that night at the Temecula Museum looking for Bobbi. He use to pull his riffle on us and others when we went hiking on the Rez. He was such a Bully! We now have some peace here again on the Rez.
