Obama Running Out the Clock on Leonard Peltier: Kathy Peltier:Leonard Peltier Is My Father, He Deserves Clemency

TICK TOCK, PRESIDENT OBAMA, one week left to do the right thing.

I've known Kathy Peltier and her mother Anne for about 7 years, working with them on a special project.  I'm honored to help widen the reach of her TIME magazine article about her father Leonard Peltier.

Leonard Peltier now 71

Here's a MONEY QUOTE:

My father was ultimately extradited from Canada 40 years ago, convicted of the agents’ killings and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences based on testimony that the FBI has admitted they knew was perjured.

and...
My worst fear is that my father will die in prison, and that I will never know him as a free man. Clemency for my father would mean our family would get to spend what’s left of his life together for the first time. That freedom would also mean that he can get the help and treatment he truly needs. The truth is, I don’t know how much longer he will be alive. But I do know that even a week with him would mean the world to me. And I know that to watch him die in prison, without clearing his name, would devastate our family even more than the past four decades have.
My father and our family have lived with this injustice for far too long. At this moment, only the president can decide his fate. I hope that President Obama will grant Leonard Peltier clemency before it’s too late.

  1. I hope he gets released, I know it must be hard. One day we will find out the whole truth about this situation and why he is not granted clemency. There are powerful people involved in keeping him where he is at, for some reason. Too much is questionable and they do not want questions asked.

  2. I remember wounded knee. the FBI was and is just another government agency that lies and cheats to keep it's self relevant. They have no concept of fair, honest, or justice. Would that I could set the man free.. I would in a heart beat. Best of luck to you and your family. Never give up.

  3. If John Hinckley Jr was released after shooting a president than Leonard Peltier should be released! http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/john-hinckley-jr-who-shot-president-reagan-be-released-after-n617816

  5. Come on Obama release this man ASAP. He doesn't deserve a death sentence, which is what he is getting if he dies while in prison.
Give him and his family a chance to be with him in his final time with the illness that he has.
We all voted to give you a chance didn't we.

  6. Lets start the "Release Leonard Peltier" petition and gather as many signatures as possible and send it to Obama before he leaves.

  8. Maybe if Leonard Peltier became a Black Muslim Obama would pardon him. Those two minority groups definitely matter a great deal more to the exiting chief executive than Indians. That has been proven over and over again. And it doesn't really matter if the conversion is sincere. Insincerity is the hallmark of political motivation.

  10. It’s interesting how you’ve quoted Kathy peltier who doesn’t even speak to her father because he wouldn’t give her his movie rights but she goes around collecting money in his name and has never put a dime on his books.
