Indianz.com REPORTS:

Holly Cook Macarro and Larry Rosenthal are joining Spirit Rock Consulting, a firm started by Aurene Martin. All three are well-known tribal advocates with experience in the executive and legislative branches.

“Holly and Larry have both been tireless advocates for Indian people. I have worked with them for many years and their experiences in Indian Country and in Washington has led to tremendous success for their clients and Indian Country as a whole,” said Martin, who is a citizen of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

According to Martin, the additions make Spirit Rock the largest Indian-owned lobbying firm in the nation. She is apparently claiming that title from Ietan Consulting, where Cook Macarro and Rosenthal previously were partners. Martin once worked there as well.

Macarro was a big bundler for Hillary Clinton's failed Presidential campaign, and the Pechanga tribe may have broken some campaign finance rules.

Although Spirit Rock is small in size, the three partners come with strong backgrounds. Martin is a former Bureau of Indian Affairs official who served during the Bush administration while Cook Macarro, a citizen of the Red Lake Nation, worked for the White House during the Clinton era and has been a prominent fixture in Democratic campaigns.

“I look forward to continuing to advance the interests of our clients at Spirit Rock and ensuring the voices of Indian country are heard in Washington, D.C.,” said Cook Macarro. “Indian Country has always been bi-partisan and our new partnership at Spirit Rock only strengthens that tradition.”   OP: Must be that spirit of bi-partisanship to bring them to DC to attend Trump's inaugural...

Rosenthal is a former Capitol Hill staffer who worked for former Congressman Dale Kildee (D), who was one of Indian Country's staunchest advocates. He also worked at the National Indian Gaming Commission.
“Aurene and Holly have set the standard for working on behalf of Indian people and I look forward to continuing that excellence with our new partnership,” said Rosenthal. OP: and GOT $1.2 MILLION to share with her hubby

According to federal lobbying records, Spirit Rock's clients in 2016 included the Bad River Band, Laguna Pueblo and the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians where Cook Macarro's husband serves as chairman. The firm also had a relationship with Ietan to work on issues for Ietan's clients
