Dear Members of Congress,

I am writing to express my grave concern about the ongoing disenrollment of Native Americans from their tribes, which has resulted in the stripping of tribal citizenship from over 11,000 individuals. This egregious practice, which has been carried out by some tribal leaders without regard for due process or tribal constitutional guidelines, represents a serious violation of the rights and well-being of Native Americans across the United States.

Disenrollment is a deeply traumatic experience that can result in the loss of cultural identity, community ties, and access to critical resources such as healthcare and education. Moreover, disenrollment often occurs without due process or adherence to tribal law, leaving individuals and families without recourse to challenge the decision or seek redress.

It is unacceptable that this practice continues to occur in the United States, and it is imperative that Congress takes immediate action to address this issue. Specifically, I urge you to:

Conduct a thorough investigation into the practice of disenrollment and its impact on Native American communities across the country.

Work with tribal leaders, advocates, and other stakeholders to develop reforms that ensure that disenrollment is carried out in accordance with due process and tribal constitutional guidelines.

Provide resources and support to Native American communities affected by disenrollment, including access to legal representation and advocacy services.

Consider legislation that would provide federal oversight and support for efforts to prevent disenrollment and promote the rights and well-being of Native Americans. This would include the loss of federal funding for tribes that violate the civil and human rights of their people.

The issue of disenrollment is a matter of urgent concern for Native American communities across the United States, and it demands immediate action and attention from Congress.

I urge you to take bold and decisive action to address this issue and to uphold the principles of justice, compassion, and respect for human rights within our tribal communities.  Turning a blind eye to this injustice, is neither bold, nor decisive
